Desmond Gillos

Background:

Desmond’s parents were part of the Green Eye clan who had disappeared from The Place of Yellow Dust with the Yellow Eyes but had never reached Ausrine. His parents didn’t want to live a life of violence and being controlled by the Green Eyes anymore. Because of this, they slipped away while his mom was pregnant and found their way to somewhere else to hide. But when Desmond was six the Green Eyes tracked them down in their apartment. One man ripped off Desmond’s ear as he tried to cling to his mom, but she was ripped away and set on fire as they held his dad and made him watch. Desmond escaped briefly and grabbed his mom, burning his hand and his face. The neighbor, Robert McCoy, burst into the apartment and shot the men who were attacking the family, but not before they managed to kill Desmond’s dad. McCoy ran Desmond upstairs and had him lie down and hide while he spoke to the police. After everything, McCoy took Desmond to the hospital where they managed to keep him alive.

McCoy didn’t want Desmond put into the system so he took care of him, knowing that he had no family and that his parents were from somewhere else.

When Desmond was seventeen and still in high school, McCoy had a stroke and died.
